EVENFLO ANNOUNCES A VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL FOR CERTAIN TRIUMPH® CONVERTIBLE CAR SEATS
MADE BEFORE NOVEMBER 1, 2005
VANDALIA, OHIO, September 28, 2007 – Evenflo Company, Inc., is announcing a voluntary recall for certain models of the Triumph® convertible child restraint made between September 6, 2001 and October 31, 2005. Evenflo discovered that portions of the cloth cover can be pulled back exposing the foam liner in an area that is reachable by a child occupant. A child inside the seat may break off and potentially choke on a piece of the foam liner. This recall does not include any Triumph models made on or after November 1, 2005 as these products have a different design.
Evenflo will be offering a free upgrade kit to owners of affected model Triumph® child restraints manufactured before November 1, 2005 and beginning with model numbers “264,” “359” or “389.” The upgrade kit provides a protective sleeve to cover the foam liner. The model number and date of manufacture may be found on a white label on the lower, back side of the child restraint. Triumph® child restraints manufactured on or after November 1, 2005 or with model numbers other than “264,” “359” or “389” do not require the kit.
To receive a kit, please click on the register link below or call Evenflo toll-free at (800) 490-7591 Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
This matter does not affect the ability of the child restraint system to protect the occupant in a motor vehicle crash. Product owners can continue to use their Triumph as a child restraint. However, Evenflo recommends that they monitor their child on a periodic basis to ensure that they do not remove the existing cloth cover from the side of the seat until the protective sleeve has been installed.
