Replacement of the Central Front Adjuster Retaining Screw

Dear Evenflo Consumer,

Evenflo would like you to know that certain 2011-2015 Symphony, SureRide, Titan 65, Momentum and Snugli car seats are equipped with a Central Front Adjuster (CFA) retaining screw that may loosen or detach from the car seat. The CFA retaining screw is located on the front of the CFA underneath the fabric cover.

While the loosening or detaching of the CFA retaining screw may cause concern, please know there is no known safety risk associated with this condition. All of the identified seats continue to meet the Federal U.S. and Canadian safety requirements (FMVSS 213 and CMVSS 213) and may be used safely. Evenflo has received no reports of injury associated with this occurrence and the company has confirmed that:

  • If the CFA retaining screw becomes very loose or detaches, the condition should be noticeable by the parent or caregiver when placing a child in the car seat and pulling on the harness adjuster strap to tighten the harness;
  • If the CFA retaining screw should detach while away from home, simply hold the CFA in place with one hand while tightening the harness around your child with the other hand. The harness will remain tight; and
  • In the event the CFA retaining screw loosens or detaches while a child is already properly secured in the car seat, the harness will remain tight around the child, even in the event of a crash.

Consumers who have a car seat identified in this notice should check the condition of the CFA retaining screw by lifting the fabric cover and ensuring the CFA is securely attached to the seat. If the CFA retaining screw is loose or detached, please contact Evenflo to order the free remedy kit, including an improved, easy-to-install replacement screw and instructions for installation.
